As men over 40 we need to keep testosterone as high as possible. Unfortunately from age 30 our testosterone starts to decline by approximately 1% per year.
Along with testosterone loss, body fat will start to accumulate, strength will go down, muscle loss will occur and our sex drive will decline.
It’s not great news BUT there are things we should be doing on a daily basis to increase our testosterone levels and keep it as high as possible.
I’ve said it before, but strength training is one of the BEST things you can do as a man over 40 for keeping testosterone levels high. I’m talking about lifting weights using the compound movements that train 2-3 muscle groups at the same time boosting testosterone, building lean muscle and permanently increasing metabolism.
Not to mention to get and stay lean.
Compound movements are also joint friendly, especially for men over 40, they’re of particular use. Now with COVID-19, the world is a changing place and it’s probably one of the best times ever to invest in some serious strength training equipment.
I recommend a power rack, an Olympic bar and a set of plates. You don’t need lots of exercises and lots of variation. But you do need to get stronger on the exercises that really matter.
Get serious about your training and you’ll look and feel the best you ever have done for your age.
Eat testosterone boosting foods
What are some testosterone boosting foods? Foods such as eggs, avocados, extra virgin olive oil, nuts and seeds to name a few.
As men over 40 we need to eat testosterone boosting foods and eliminate foods that cause fat gain and high amounts of estrogen.
If your goal is to eliminate fat, you MUST get your calories right on a day to day basis. And you must get the macros from those calories correct, protein, carbohydrates and fat.
STOP winging it!
