7 Foods Killing Fertility for Men Over 40

7 Foods Killing Fertility for Men Over 40

As a man over 40 you might still be trying to conceive and even if you’re not it’s still important to keep testosterone and sperm count as high as possible.

If you’ve been following Lean Over 40 for Men, you’ll already know I’m not a fan of harmful testosterone boosting drugs, supplements or anything un-natural.

That said I am a fan of sound basic training and healthy eating that keeps testosterone and sperm quality at best!

Unfortunately, from around age 30, our natural testosterone levels start to diminish. It happens at a rate of around 1% per year, soon adding up to a significant reduction by age 40.

It gets worse, especially if you choose to do nothing about it.

Testosterone is responsible for a whole host of chemical processes in the body including building lean muscle and losing fat.

While we can’t regain our youth, we CAN fight back and keep testosterone at it’s peak by training correctly, eating correctly and getting enough quality sleep every night.

Here are 7 foods that you should probably reconsider if you’re trying to conceive or for general health and peak testosterone production:

Sugar

Sugar is everywhere and very difficult to eliminate from your nutrition plan. On top of that it’s extremely addictive!

Did you know that sugar is as addictive as heroin? It’s a scary fact.

The problem with sugar is not only does it make us fat and cause heart problems, but it lowers sperm count and reduces testosterone levels.

Because it’s so difficult to eliminate from the modern diet, I would look at reducing it to begin with.

Try and stick to foods that are in their natural state as much as possible with fewer ingredients.

Eggs are eggs for example, broccoli is broccoli. You get the idea.

Processed Meats

I would completely avoid processed meats altogether, there’s too much evidence pointing to cancer causing preservatives and toxins that are used to preserve shelf life.

Meats such as bacon, hot dogs, pre-packed hams etc. aren’t doing you or your testosterone and sperm quality any good.

As well, they’re simply not a great source of complete protein needed to recover from your workouts.

Organ Meats

Organ meats such as liver and intestines might taste good to you, but they’re not doing you any good.

They contain a chemical known as cadmium that effects sperm count and lowers testosterone levels.

Alcohol

In my course, Ripped Abs Over 40, I teach you how to fit alcohol into your life whilst still leaning down.

I believe getting and staying lean shouldn’t come with the cost of eliminating your social life and never drinking, but it’s all about moderation.

Moderate alcohol consumption has been shown to increase testosterone levels, so much for destroying it, but too much alcohol i.e. drinking until your blind drunk will do the opposite.

Too much alcohol can also take a toll on your liver, so best to drink in moderation.

Soybean Products

Soybean contains the female hormone estrogen, the last thing men over 40 need! Estrogen will kill sperm count and lower testosterone levels.

As men over 40 it’s important we stay away from harmful foods that increase estrogen and kill testosterone levels.

Full Fat Milk

While a little full fat milk won’t do you any harm, don’t go drinking it by the pint thinking it’s a good source of protein.

Any benefits gained are lost due to modern farming methods.

The problem with milk is pesticides and hormones consumed by the cows ultimately end up in the milk.

These chemicals interfere with sperm count and kill testosterone levels in men.

Fruit and Vegetables

Are you kidding?

Well it depends what kind of fruit and vegetables you’re eating.

Unfortunately, a lot of fruit and vegetables have been doused with so many pesticides and preservatives that any benefits gained are lost with the adverse effects they have on the body.

It’s much better to try and stick to organic vegetables and fruits so that you can be sure what you’re eating hasn’t been subjected to heavy chemicals.

Eat a variety and rainbow of organic fruits and vegetables for the best benefits.

Bottom line

The above are only a few foods killing your testosterone and sperm production, the bottom line is to try and stick to foods that aren’t heavily processed and avoid those that are in a bag or in a box.

Try and stick to organic as much as possible and eat a variety of carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats.

Getting lean and healthy isn’t about restricting calories too much or going too low in carbs or fats.

If you go super low in calories or cut out carbs or fats, you’ll destroy testosterone and feel starved and miserable in the process.

If you’re trying to lose fat and get lean, I cover a complete nutrition plan in my course, Ripped Abs Over 40.

It’s the definitive guide to getting a lean body for men over 40 and I know you’re going to love it.
