Best Way to Get Rid of Belly Fat Fast
One of the best things you can do for your health especially as you get older is take charge of your belly fat!
If you don’t take the time to address this now, the problem won’t go away as you get older. Then you’ll have an even bigger mountain to climb when it comes to burning fat and getting lean.
The truth is anything above 40 inches waist circumference (102 cm) in men is known as abdominal obesity.
Having lots of fat in the abdominal region is strongly linked to diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
If you have a lot of excess fat around your waistline, then you should be taking some steps to get rid of it, even if you’re not very heavy over all.
Thankfully, I created this brand to help men over 40, just like you lose fat and get lean without the nonsense.
Here are some steps that you can implement TODAY to start losing belly fat right away.
-
Cut out sugar
Sugar is very unhealthy and extremely addictive. It’s everywhere and whilst a bit of sugar here and there won’t cause any long-term problems, excess sugar has uniquely harmful effects on metabolic health.
The research is clear that excess sugar can lead to an increased accumulation of fat around the belly and on the liver.
Sweetened fizzy drinks are a big culprit, linked to a whopping 60% of obesity. Just cutting out fizzy drinks can have a huge impact on fat loss and improved health.
Make a conscious decision to minimise the amount of sugar in your diet and eliminate sugary drinks completely.
A lot of men get confused when it comes to fruit. This is completely different than the processed sugar you’ll find in fizzy drinks.
Fruit is extremely healthy and has plenty of fibre that eliminates the negative effects of fructose.
The best way to cut back or eliminate sugar is to start reading labels. Even foods marketed as health foods can contain huge amounts of sugar.
Try and stick with fresh foods with as few ingredients as possible, those that are in their natural state.
Stay away from anything processed that’s been packaged in a bag or box for the best benefits.
-
Eat healthy protein sources
Protein is an important macronutrient when it comes to losing weight and getting lean. Because of it’s filling effects, its been shown to reduce cravings by 60% and boost metabolism by 80-100 calories per day.
The research is clear that keeping protein at around 25-30 % of total calories will boost metabolism, repair lean muscle and guard against belly fat.
The problem arises when men think of excessive amounts and chugging down protein shakes is the answer is a lean body.
Moderate amounts of protein work best and from lean natural sources such as lean cuts of meat, eggs, fresh fish and natural yogurt.
-
Cut out processed carbs
Processed carbs such as cookies and white bread aren’t doing you any good for fat loss. Heavily processed carbs haven’t got any nutritional benefits and will put a brake on your fat loss goals.
With that said going the no carb route isn’t the answer to losing fat!
When you restrict healthy carbohydrates, you’ll kill testosterone levels and make binge eating inevitable, which is the last thing you want.
Stick to healthy carb sources such as whole grain oats, whole grain pasta, potatoes, brown rice, fruits and vegetables for the best fat loss results.
-
Don’t try and spot reduce belly fat
Losing belly fat is NOT about trying to spot reduce. Doing endless crunches or “targeting” the mid-section won’t work.
One study conducted had men training for 6 weeks doing nothing but training the abdominal muscles directly and it had no measurable effect on waist circumference or the amount of fat in the abdominal cavity.
The key to losing fat is to think of the body as a unit. When you lose fat, you’ll lose it from your face, your back, your legs, arms AND stomach.
But if you focus on just the stomach you’ll never get lean.
You need a training plan that’s going to train ALL your muscle groups and a nutrition plan that’s going to allow you to lose fat without feeling neglected.
The key to losing fat is strength training using the compound movements, I’ve mentioned this before and it should be your focus, NOT cardio training.
-
Track calories and food
When losing fat, at least in the beginning you need to keep tabs on everything you eat i.e. how many calories, how much protein, how many carbs and how much dietary fat you’re taking in.
I think that for anyone who truly wants to optimize their diet, tracking things for a while is essential to success.
Not only do you need to know how many calories you’re taking in daily, but you need to ensure those calories are spilt evenly so that you’re taking in adequate protein, enough carbs to fuel workouts and enough fat to support testosterone production.
